Mr. Jesse Baum has been a HS Russian counselor and head cook for Camp OFLA. He has also spent several summers as an activities director for Templed Hills, has worked at Forest Camp in Russia, and has been program coordinator for Army Europe Child Youth Services in Belgium and the Netherlands. He also spent a year teaching abroad in Spain.  Currently Mr. Baum is a science for Glass City Academy in Toledo and is working on his Master's degree in administration at WGU. He will be with camp again this year as the Director for Camp OFLA 2026.​

Mrs. Kara Humphrey teaches German and French at Beavercreek High School and has been the head German teacher for Camp OFLA. She was a Templed Hills camper as a youngster. Mrs. Humphrey will join us again as the Assistant Director/Activities Director in 2026.

Ms. Lee Bishop has been a Japanese teacher for Camp OFLA since 2005. She has also acted as co-director in past camps. She currently teaches Japanese, ESL and international seminar for Columbus City Schools and is completing her Ph.D in teacher education at the Ohio State University. For Camp OFLA 2026, Lee Sensei will be running supplemental evening programming for the whole camp to learn a little Japanese in addition to their language of choice!

Mrs. Laura ​Helpman is the head Russian teacher for Camp OFLA. She has a teaching degree in Russian and a Masters in gifted education from Bowling Green State University and currently teaches Russian for Toledo Public Schools. She has taught Russian for Camp OFLA, acted as camp nurse, and co-directed. In 2026 Mrs. Helpman will again teach Russian.

Ms. Samantha Colby is a Spanish teacher who got roped into Camp OFLA mere moments after she met her classroom neighbor (Mrs. Helpman). She is a 2018 BGSU graduate who earned her Master's Degree in ESL in 2024. This will be her fifth year at Camp OFLA. Ms. Colby will be joining us as Spanish teacher again this year.

Dr. Lori Winne has been a co-director or director of Camp OFLA since its beginning in 2005. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and contributed 36 years to world language education in Toledo Public Schools as an administrator and teacher. Before her retirement, Lori taught elementary German and Spanish, which she has also taught at camp. Dr. Winne will stepped back as  Program Director for Camp OFLA 2025 and stepped back into the 'classroom' as the German teacher. After her team's winning OFLA-vision performance of the Gummi Bear Song in 2025, she had no choice but to return in 2026 as the German teacher!

Mrs. Whitney Schlagetter  teaches junior high French and Reading  for Sylvania Schools.  Mrs Schlagetter is currently working on her Master's Degree. She has been a part of camp for 9 years - as French teacher, cook and activities director. She will be joining us as French teacher once again in 2026!

​Mr. Lucas Hoffman has been a French teacher for Camp OFLA since 2005. He has also acted as co-director and web master in recent years. Currently a French teacher for the Sylvania Schools, Lucas received his Masters in French from the University of Toledo in 2023. For Camp OFLA 2026, Mr. Hoffman is helping the team by serving as the OWLA board treasurer!

 Megan Brady is a former camp counselor from 2005 and 2006, our very first years of Camp OFLA. She loved her time so much, she is coming back to join us as a camp staff focusing on our special dietary needs. She has had ample experience cooking for a wide variety of dietary needs, and really enjoys cooking and creating in the kitchen. When not in the kitchen, she is a High School Spanish teacher at Northwest Schools in Canal Fulton and was the 2024-25 OFLA President. For 2026 she is taking over the kitchen for Camp OFLA!
